With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Wilbern Ray "Butch" Connally of Kerrville, TX.

Here is what mattered, in the years between the dates.

Wilbern held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

What Wilbern believed shaped how he loved.

Wilbern Ray "Butch" Connally, age 85, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on May 2, 2026. He was born on July 23, 1940, in Anson, Texas, to Richard Connally and Wilma Skypala.

Butch was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose strong Catholic faith guided his life. He attended Mass faithfully and found deep comfort and strength in his relationship with God. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He proudly served his country in the US army out of high school. A natural salesman with a remarkable gift for connecting with people, Butch was consistently a top performer in every industry he worked in. He took great pride in being an excellent provider for his family, working hard to ensure they were well cared for.

Above all, family was the center of Butch's world. He adored his wife Betty and cherished their life together. They were married for 60 years. He was the proud father of four children and loved nothing more than spending time with them. He is survived by his loving wife Betty Connally; daughters Lisa Connally and Wendy Kahanek and her husband Jason; son Chris Connally; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Richard Connally Jr. and George Connally; sister Erlene Adams; and daughter Michelle Mann.

Butch was fun-loving and had a wonderful sense of humor that could light up any room. He enjoyed sharing stories, laughter, and good times with family and friends. His warmth, quick wit, and generous spirit will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 PM on Thursday, May 7th, with the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Notre Dame Catholic Church at 1:30pm Friday, May 8th. Members of the Knights of Columbus will serve as pallbearers.

Inurnment with Military Honors will occur on Monday, May 11, at 11:15 AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas.

Butch lived a full life defined by faith, hard work, love of family, and joy. He will be deeply missed.
