With heavy hearts, we share the passing of William Dennis Traynor of Winnetka, IL.
These are the contours of a life that meant a great deal to many.
What was given remains, even when the giver is gone.
William Dennis "Bill" Traynor, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away recently at the age of 86. Born on August 19, 1939, on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, Bill lived a life of quiet strength, deep loyalty, and devoted service to his country and his family.
Bill was educated at Loyola Academy, graduating in 1957, and went on to earn his degree from Loyola University in 1962. He proudly served his country on active duty in the United States Army, earning the rank of Captain before receiving an honorable discharge. His service reflected the integrity and discipline that would define him throughout his life.
Over the years, Bill made his home in Winnetka and Glenview, Illinois, where he and his beloved wife of 64 years, Judy, built a full and loving life together. Through every season, Judy was at his side - and that partnership was among his greatest gifts.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Judy; his sons, Bill (Annie) and Chris (Lisa); his daughter, Kate Kolodziejczak (John); and his cherished granddaughters, Mary, Jamie, Meghan, Kiley, and Anna. He was the eldest of nine children and is also survived by his siblings Betsy (Bill O'Brien), Michael (Molly), Tim (Billie), Dean, Ann (John Flynn), Mary Eagan (Tom), and John (and his partner Danica), as well as the late Andy (and the late Jeanette), and by many beloved nieces and nephews.
A lifelong and faithful Cubs fan, Bill found joy in the game and never wavered in his loyalty - a trait that extended well beyond the ballpark.
Bill Traynor leaves behind a family that will carry his memory with love and pride. May he rest in peace.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Misericordia.
