Obituary
Rene Flores Garcia Sr.
November 12, 1948- May 1, 2026
Rene Flores Garcia Sr., 77, passed away May 1, 2026, in Billings, Montana, with his 2 youngest granddaughters by his side.
He was born November 12, 1948, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, to Guadalupe and Adela (Flores) Garcia. During his childhood, the family moved to McAllen, Texas, where Rene helped his parents work in the fields. It was there he learned the value of hard work and developed the hands-on skills that would stay with him throughout his life. At 16 years old, he met and fell in love with Isabel Garcia. Her parents did not approve of their courtship, but they knew it was a love that would last an eternity, so they eloped when he was 19 years old. This love lasted almost 60 years, till his very last breath.
As he grew older, Rene found joy in working with his hands-whether landscaping his yard or spending time in his garage building birdhouses and toolboxes. In the early 1980s, he followed his brother-in-law across the country, in search of a better place to raise their families away from city life. They spent some time in San Jose, California before finally settling in Worland, Wyoming. Worland became his home for the rest of his life, where he built a large, close-knit family that meant everything to him.
Rene worked for Holly Sugar for more than 40 years, eventually becoming a lead mechanic before retiring in 2013. He took great pride in his work and the life he built.
Outside of work, Rene enjoyed fishing and could often be found curled up in a blanket watching an old John Wayne movie. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, they were truly his whole world.
He was a devoted husband who loved his wife deeply and selflessly took on the role of her caretaker during her illness. Rene was a man of faith; kind, gentle, and giving, always putting others before himself.
Rene was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Antonio, Lilia, Ismael, Hector and his son, Rene Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Isabel Garcia; daughter, Linda Guy; his siblings, Maria, Jose, Lidia, Reyna, Rogelio and Arturo; his grandchildren, Haley Guy, Emrie Jolley, Jasmine (Lucas Kraushaar) Garcia, Kira Garcia; and one great-grandchild, Kainin.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Robert Rodgers officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
