Richard Allen "Pete" Whisman of Wellston, OK has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.

A life is more than dates on a stone; here is a small portion of his story.

There is no greater gift than the one a parent gives by simply being present.

Richard "Pete" Allen Whisman was born on January 2, 1943, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Frances and Roscoe Whisman. He passed peacefully into his heavenly home on April 30, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Roscoe Whisman; his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary Marie Whisman; his son, Terry Hall; his daughter, Linda Moody; and his brother, Ronald Whisman.

Pete is survived by his children, Larry (Hollie) Hall and Brenda Sanchez; and his grandchildren, Shanna, Jason, Kimberly, Dustin, Shyla, Jacklyn, Dalton, Tiffanie, and Derrick, as well as many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon (Dennis) Miller; his sister-in-law, Shirley Whisman; his brother-in-law, Mike (Carolyn) Michael; his sister/aunt, Carol Jean; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Pete proudly retired from the military after 42 years of service in 2003. He enjoyed watching OU sports and Thunder basketball, golfing, spending time at the lake, fishing, and riding his trike. Pete never met a stranger and had a gift for striking up a conversation with anyone.

He was a wonderful father and papa who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. While we grieve his loss today, may the days ahead be filled with celebration of Pete's life and the love we were blessed to share with him.
