Richard M. DiBartolomeo Sr. of Painesville, OH has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.

What remains is memory — and the gratitude of those he loved.

Richard M. DiBartolomeo Sr., age 78 of Eastlake, formerly of Euclid, passed away April 26 th, 2026 at Maple Ridge Senior Living in Willoughby. He was born March 4 th, 1948 in Cleveland to the late Mario & Antoinette DiBartolomeo.

Rich was a schoolteacher, retiring in 2016 after 42 years of service. His career in teaching spanned from Shaw and Orange High School to Case Western Reserve and John Carroll University. He received his bachelor's degree at Case Western Reserve and his master's degree from Cleveland State University.

Rich coached football at all the schools he taught. He was an avid reader, enjoyed watching football, playing cards, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Rich was the loving husband for 56 years to Rose DiBartolomeo (nee Goda); beloved father of Sam (Marcie) DiBartolomeo, and Richard (Dana) DiBartolomeo Jr.; dearest grandfather of Rocco and Alice DiBartolomeo, Cecelia and Anthony DiBartolomeo; brother of Isabelle Potokar, Mary (Harry) Conaway, and the late Nicholas (Charlotte) DiBartolomeo; uncle to many nieces and nephews.

The DiBartolomeo family will receive family and friends from 2:00 – 5:00 PM Saturday, May 2 nd, 2026 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville. A funeral service will be held at 4:30 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Donations can be made in Rich's name to the Ashtabula APL www.acapl.org or to the Guide Dogs for The Blind www.guidedogs.com
