Robert J Vogt of Staten Island, NY, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.

The following words honor a life that mattered to many.

Family is the thread that runs through every story.

Robert Joseph Vogt, lovingly known as Bob, passed away on May 2, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on October 28, 1947, on Staten Island, he was the beloved son of Frank and Clementine (Puntillo) Vogt.

Bob was raised in the Oakwood neighborhood of Staten Island, where he formed a deep love for his community, the beach, and the simple joys of his childhood memories he carried with him throughout his life. He attended St. Patrick s Grammar School and graduated from New Dorp High School.

In 1967, Bob was drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, rising to the rank of Sergeant. During his service, including time stationed at Camp Carroll, he was awarded a Medal of Commendation in recognition of his dedication and courage. He returned home in 1969.

Soon after his return, Bob met Regina Frances Siller who would become his partner in life for over five decades. They were married on November 6, 1971, and together they raised two sons, Robert Francis and Frank Joseph Vogt.

Bob went on to serve with distinction as an officer with the Port Authority Police Department of New York/New Jersey, where he was stationed at John F. Kennedy International Airport s Emergency Services. He was respected for his integrity, strength, and commitment to protecting others.

A true craftsman at heart, Bob was a skilled carpenter and a natural ''jack of all trades.'' He had a special passion for restoring classic cars, particularly Mustangs and Thunderbirds, and took great pride in bringing them back to life. His hands were rarely still, and his work reflected both his talent and his patience.

Bob was one of four siblings. He is survived by his loving brother Bill Vogt and his sister Nancy Kubelka, and was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Van Daley. He is also remembered fondly by his extended family, including many brothers- and sisters-in-law on both the Vogt and Siller sides, with whom he shared close and lasting bonds.

He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Katherine, Owen, Lir and Bodhin, who brought him immense joy and pride.

Bob will also be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews, all of whom knew him as a kind, steady, and generous presence in their lives.

Above all, Bob will be remembered as a kind, loving, and strong man someone who showed up for his family, worked hard, and lived with quiet dignity. His warmth, humor, and unwavering love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2026, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 9th, 11:00 a.m., at St Patrick's Church. Arrangements will include private cremation.
