Robert Keith Novak of McCleary, WA, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.
These words are offered in his memory — small, but heartfelt.
Some days simply pass; others stay with us forever.
Robert "Bob" Keith Novak, 78, passed away at his home in McCleary, Washington, on April 10, 2026.
Bob was born on August 9, 1947, in Wichita, Kansas, to Joseph and Theola Novak. He grew up in Wichita, graduating from South High School in 1965, carrying with him the values of hard work, loyalty, and a deep appreciation for family that would shape the rest of his life.
After Bob graduated high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. His service was a source of quiet pride, and he carried that sense of duty and honor with him throughout his life.
In 1980, he moved to Washington State, where he planted roots and built a life rich in friendships, simple joys, and a love for the outdoors.
On August 19, 1989, Bob married the love of his life, Clarissa "Riss" James. Together, they shared a life full of laughter, companionship, and everyday adventures. Whether it was a simple shopping trip, cheering on a football game, spending time on the golf course, cross-country skiing, or tending to the garden, Bob found his greatest happiness in being by Riss's side. Their home was also filled with love for their cherished dog, Cassie, and cats, Jacque and Simone, who brought them endless joy.
After losing Riss on September 12, 2025, Bob felt her absence deeply. Yet even in his grief, he remained grounded in his faith, finding comfort in his Savior and strength in the love of family and friends who surrounded him.
Bob will be remembered for his steady presence, his kind heart, and the quiet way he showed up for the people he loved. He is survived by his sister, Linda & Steve Kientz of Big Sandy, Texas, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss him dearly.
The family invites all who knew and loved Bob to join them in celebrating his life at a ceremony at Masonic Memorial Park, 455 North Street SE, Olympia, Washington, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11 a.m.
In honor of Bob's life and service, memorial donations may be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
Arrangements are entrusted to Harrison Family Mortuary of Aberdeen, Washington.
