Roger C. Schmitt of Richmond, IN has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.

RICHMOND, IN– Roger C. Schmitt, age 84, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at The Springs of Richmond.

He was born March 23, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Freeman and Bessie Blankenship Schmitt. Roger grew up in Cincinnati and graduated from the University of Cincinnati. He then moved to the Richmond, IN community in 2006. Roger obtained his license as a Real Estate Agent and was a member of Living Hope Christian Church (formerly Central Christian Church). Roger enjoyed deer hunting and travelling.

Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca R. (Andrew) Glunt; son, John Schmitt; granddaughters, Stacey and Sarah Glunt; sister, Rita (Gene) Smith; brother-in-law, Alan Lunsford; nieces; nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi R. Fortner Schmitt, who died in 2014; his parents; and sisters, Marilyn Wilham, and Beverly Lunsford.

Visitation for Roger C. Schmitt will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2026, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial follow in Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231.
