Stephen Walter Meharg, 74, entered into rest on May 4, 2026.Stephen was born on October 4, 1951, in Macon, GA to the late James Walter and Robbie Lee (Johnson) Meharg.He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a focus in Respiratory Therapy. His career reflected a deep commitment to public service, having worked in law enforcement for a total of 12 years. During that time, he served as Police Chief in Ideal, Georgia, and contributed to policing efforts in surrounding counties. Stephen retired as a respiratory therapist at Taylor Regional Hospital.Outside of his professional career, he found joy in spending time with family, creating lasting memories with those he loved most.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Holly Dee Herring.He is survived by his loving family, including his son, Tyler Meharg; daughter, Kelly Haynes and her husband, Jonathan Haynes; grandson, John Parker, and granddaughter, Ansley. He is also survived by his sisters, Beverly Spillers and Lynn Meharg, and the mother of his children, Teresa Meharg.At the family’s request, all services held will be private.McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
