Teri Owens of Carrollton, GA, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.

Some lives speak quietly; her is one such story.

Teri held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

The community of faith holds its own well — and Teri was held.

Mrs. Teresa Ann Coury Owens, affectionately known as "Teri," entered her Heavenly home on May 4, 2026 at the age of 83. She was born April 18, 1943 in Athens, Ohio to the late Joseph Francis Coury and Helen Marjorie Keating Coury. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Marion Owens, Sr.

Although currently living in Carrollton, Teri previously lived in Columbus, Georgia. She became a member of Grace Baptist Church in Columbus in 1999 and found a loving, Christian community that would become her family. She worked for the church's Christian School for many years. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalm 121:5, "The Lord watches over you--the Lord is your shade at your right hand." Her friends, colleagues, and students will remember her as a Godly, nurturing woman, and a fierce prayer warrior.

She is survived by her stepchildren and their spouses, Donna Cauley, of Carrollton, GA, Deanna and Larry Arrington, of Lagrange, GA, Tina and Shane Rix, of Ft. Myers, FL, and Earl and Sandy Owens, Jr., of Phenix City, AL and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 11:00AM at Grace Baptist Church in Columbus, GA with Pastor Seth Hon officiating. A eulogy will be given by Donna Cauley. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00AM. A private burial will be held at a later date at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
