Some doors close softly, and still leave the room changed.

SAMUELSON, BARBARA ANN, 80, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Her life was a beautiful reflection of faith, family, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished most.

Barbara was born on February 1, 1946, in Lincoln, Illinois, to George and Nora {Bladon} Brace. As the daughter of a minister, Barbara's early years were shaped by frequent moves and a strong spiritual foundation that would remain at the center of her life. Through every transition, she carried with her a steady faith perseverance, and a heart for the Lord.

After graduating from high school, Barbara began working as a secretary, a role that suited her organized and thoughtful nature. It was at Central Assembly Church, in Sunday school, where she met the love of her life, Fred. Their relationship blossomed into a deep and lasting love, and they were united in marriage in 1967-a partnership built on faith, respect, and enduring commitment.

Barbara later worked as a secretary for the vice president of the newly established Pizza Hut franchises, but her greatest calling came with the birth of her children. She wholeheartedly embraced her role as a stay-at-home mother, dedicating herself completely to raising her children and nurturing her family.

A true matriarch, Barbara's family was the center of her world. She created a home filled with warmth, love, and belonging. Whether it was a holiday celebration planned with meticulous care or a simple family gathering, Barbara poured her heart into every detail. She found great joy in bringing her children and grandchildren together and was happiest when her home was filled with family. Ever the gracious host, it was her privilege to serve those she loved.

Barbara lived a deeply Christ-centered life. Her faith was not only her firm foundation, but something she lived out daily through her generosity and selflessness. She was a source of strength and encouragement to many-a spiritual mentor, a comforting presence, and a steady voice of wisdom. She had a unique ability to listen, to uplift, and to make others feel truly seen and valued.

Her love was steadfast and unconditional. She was deeply loyal, always putting the needs of her family before her own, and she carried a genuine concern for the well-being of everyone around her. Her legacy is one of strong faith and devotion to God, and her unwavering loyalty to her family.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Fred; her son, Brian Samuelson (Kristi); her daughter, Marie Baldassarre (Andy); her beloved grandchildren, Lily, Elle, Liam, Elise, Alaina, and Emilee; her brother, David Brace (Annie); and many extended family members and dear friends who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nora Brace.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Jubilee Church, 2741 S. Laura St. in Wichita. Barbara will be laid to rest at noon that same day at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita.

Memorial donations may be made in Barbara's honor to Jubilee Church to further their ministries.

Barbara's life was a testament to faith, love, and Christ-led strength. She leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her-a legacy of a life well lived and deeply loved.
