Bernard Berdell Seik of Washington, PA, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.

Bernard spent his working life as ['steel worker for Jessop Steel'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.
Some carry the weight of duty quietly; Bernard carried it well.
Bernard Berdell Seik, of Washington PA, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026. He was born on June 22, 1940, in Washington, a son of the late Norman and Minnie (Ruchinski) Seik. He was raised by his wonderful step father Nick Duymich after his father died at a very young age and raised 8 childrenA 1958 graduate of Chartiers Houston High School, Bernie worked as a steel worker for Jessop Steel.Mr. Seik was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War, from May 13, 1968, until his honorable discharge, with the rank of Staff Sergeant, on July 9, 1969. For his distinguished service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with Two Overseas Bars. He also achieved his Expert Marksmanship Badge with M-16 Qualification. Mr. Seik's last major duty assignment was with the 630th Transportation Company.Following his return from the service, Bernie worked as a steel worker for Jessop Steel.He was a life member of the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Moose Lodge, where he had served as state president in 2001. He was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Washington Lodge #164.Bernie loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting elk and deer in Colorado and Idaho, and Caribou in Canada, and he enjoyed fishing, especially in Colorado.He was married to the love of his life, Beverly Davis Seik, who died on May 27, 2016.Surviving are a brother, Daniel R. Seik, of Doylestown; four sisters, Norma Jean Roberts, of Olympia, Loretta L. Pryor, of Littleton, CO, Patricia M. Nagy, of Hickory, and Esther E. McElravy, of Houston; and two stepsons, Brian Jay Minnis, Timothy C. Minnis and 5 grandchildren. Deceased are two brothers, Edward W. Seik and Charles W. Seik. At the request of the deceased there will be no visitation. There will be full military honors accorded at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies by the Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 and the United States Army on May 14, 2026 at 2:30pm. Please meet at the cemetery at 2:15PM.
