C. Daniel Woerner of Greenwood, IN has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.
The chapters of his life were many; these are some of them.
Love, when given fully, leaves its mark on every life it touches.
C. Daniel "Danny" Woerner, 84, of Greenwood, passed away on May 4, 2026. He was born on May 3, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN to the late John Wesley and Nancy Belle (Byrd) Woerner.
Danny proudly served his country in the Unites States Army. During his high school years, he was well known for his time on the Southport High School basketball team, where he built a love for the game.
He went on to dedicate 31 years of service as payroll specialist at Eli Lily, where colleagues often referred to him as the "encyclopedia of payroll" for his remarkable knowledge and precision.
Danny had a natural gift for numbers and organization, traits that extended beyond his career into his personal life - especially in the meticulous care of his yard.
In his free time, Danny enjoyed watching college basketball, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life.
Danny will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Rita Woerner; daughter, Wendy (Michael) Veros; and grandchildren, Ana and Nia.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Whitney Woerner; and son, Wesley B. Woerner; brothers, John "Jack" Woerner and David M. Woerner.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. A service of remembrance with military honors will follow at 7:00 pm.
