It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of James William "Bill" Gillock of Greenwood, IN — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
What follows is a brief look at the life his family wishes to share.
James spent his working life as ['many years in the flooring business'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.
A life is built quietly, day by day.
James William "Bill" Gillock, 80, of Greenwood passed away on April 25, 2026, at Community Hospital South. Bill was born on April 13, 1946, in Indianapolis, IN to William James and Luverne (Towns) Gillock. Bill served his country and his state through his service with the Indiana National Guard. He worked for many years in the flooring business. In his free time, Bill was a coach for Bantam League football, he also coached baseball, basketball and softball. He also liked to fish and play golf, as well as going hiking with his beloved wife, Ginny.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Virginia "Ginny" Gillock; sons: James William(Stephanie Ann) Gillock, III and Jeffrey Gillock, daughter, Kimberly (Jamie) Woodlee; brother, Dan (Sue) Gillock; sister, Cheryl Martin; five grandchildren: Sarah, Adam, Haley, Aaron and Josh; three great grandchildren: Amethyst, Noah, Weston, and a fourth the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom Gillock.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Walker Cottage, 475 West Main Street, Greenwood from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. Memorial contributions in memory of Bill may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice. .
