Callen Payne of Blountsville, AL has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.

A life is more than dates on a stone; here is a small portion of his story.

To raise a child is to give the world a future. Callen did this with care.

James Callen Payne, 29, of Blountsville passed away Monday April 27, 2026, from injuries related to a car accident a couple of days before. Callen was born July 31, 1996, in Guntersville, AL the son of James Albert Payne, II and Tracey Leanne Smith Payne. He was a graduate of Liberty Christian Academy and was a welder.

He is survived by his wife: Courtney Connors Payne; mother: Tracey Payne; father: James Payne; children: Gabbi Alana, Fia Kate and Calder; grandparents: Kenneth and Agnes Smith; sisters: Makenzie Cook, Ryleigh (Bubba) Jones, Angela (Chris) Bly and Capri Howard; aunts: Kelly Smith and Connie (Rodney) Baker and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents: James Albert Payne, Sr. and Shirley Rose Payne and aunt: Kyndra Smith.

Funeral Service will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday May 5, 2026, at Blountsville Funeral Home with Brother Kenneth Smith officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The family has chosen cremation to follow the service.
