Christoula Giannopoulos of New Haven, CT, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.

Christoula Karachristos Giannopoulos, 94, passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2026. She was the widow of Elias Giannopoulos. Christoula was born in Makrisia, Greece April 6, 1932, a daughter of the late Dimetrios and Eleni Nikolakopoulos Karachristos. A seamstress for many years at Strous Adler eventually she worked with her husband to operate the family restaurant. She is survived by her daughter Alexandra (Haralambos) Hartoumbekis, granddaughter, Christoula Hartoumbekis and her fiancé Nikos Charalambous, grandsons, Elias and Dimetrios Hartoumbekis, and great grandchildren Mia Hartoumbekis and Eirini Charalambous. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her siblings, Vasiliki, Maria, Thanasis, Margarita, Nektaria, Marina, Kostos, and Giorgios.
A Funeral service will be held Wednesday May 6th at 10:00 AM in St. Basil's Greek Orthodox Church, 1 Tower Lane, New Haven. Family and friends can pay their respects in church from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. Interment with her husband will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Basil's Greek Orthodox Church, 1 Tower Lane, New Haven, CT. 06519.
