Cynthia Heather Woodhouse of Cedar Rapids, IA has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved her.

Cynthia Heather Woodhouse, 45, of Cedar Rapids passed away, April 27, 2026. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom. Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday May 4th at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.

Cynthia was born on May 18, 1980, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Paul Woodhouse and Mary Allen. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 2001 with a B.A. in English. Cynthia was a Language Arts teacher. Most of her career was spent at Iowa City West High School and Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School. Along with her role in the classroom, Cynthia also coached competitive speech and debate teams that were recognized both locally and nationally for individual and team success. Professionally she was affiliated with NCTE, ISEA, and National Speech and Debate Association. Personally, Cynthia practiced Kumdo, a Korean martial art, with her son, Dean.

Survivors include her son, Dean of Cedar Rapids; father, Paul Woodhouse (Phyllis) of Princeton; mother, Mary Allen (Tom Dickson) of Bettendorf; brother, Rev. Scott Allen Woodhouse (Christine) of Logansport, IN; stepbrother, Brian Slate (Marissa) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Richard and Jeanne Allen and Harold and Marion Woodhouse.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for later designation.

Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
