Edgar Anglin of Washington, IL, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.

Edgar A. Anglin, 90, of rural Metamora, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family.Ed was born on January 13, 1936, in Bourbon, Indiana, the son of Marshall and Margaret Rose Anglin. He married Linda Tannert on November 22, 1961, in Tucson, Arizona.Surviving are his wife; three sons—George (Jennifer) Anglin, Paul (Elizabeth) Anglin, and Steven (Laura) Anglin, all of Metamora; and one daughter, Melissa (Frank) Shoop, of Peoria. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 nephews and their spouses, and four grandnieces and nephews. His parents and one brother, George, preceded him in death.Ed proudly holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona. He also served in the Arizona Air National GuardAfter relocating from Tucson in 1966, he worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company as a mechanical engineer for 32 years before retiring in 1998. A man who enjoyed many aspects of his life, he especially loved restoring antique tractors, with a particular passion for Allis-Chalmers models. “If it was broken, he could fix it.” After retiring, he and Linda enjoyed many travels and cruises with his family.Ed, a lifelong Lutheran and long-standing member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington, transferred his membership to CANA Lutheran Church in Washington with Linda in 2022.A Celebration of Life is set for 9 am on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at CANA Lutheran Church in Washington. Pastor Matt Shields will lead the service. Following the celebration, there will be a time to mingle with friends and enjoy coffee and donuts from 9:30 am until 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to CANA Lutheran Church or to the Anglin Endowed Scholarship for the College of Nursing at Bradley University in Peoria.
