The family of Alice Jeannette "Jenny" Floyd of Evansville, IN announces her passing, and invites all who knew her to remember her here.

What follows is written with love, by those who knew her best.

Alice held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

A life of faith is rarely a life of certainty — but always one of trust.

Alice Jeannette Floyd, known lovingly to family and friends as Jenny, passed away on April 30, 2026, in Evansville, Indiana, at the age of 92.

She was born on January 25, 1934, in Oakland City, Indiana, to Rev. Jesse Hall and Chloe Wilkinson Hall. Jenny was proud to call Oakland City her home, and she was even more proud to have been raised in Oak Grove Baptist Church, where her father served as pastor for many years. Her faith, her upbringing, and her deep roots in the community shaped the woman she became and remained a guiding force throughout her life.

Jenny graduated at the top of her class from Oakland City High School, a reflection of the determination and discipline that marked her life. She later served as President of the Oakland City Business and Professional Woman's Club. She was known as a woman of purpose, and she carried herself with grace, intelligence, and quiet strength.

Her professional life included years of service as a Front Office Manager at the VW Dealership, Thompson Motors, and Alvey-Scott Motors. It was through her work that she met her husband, Joe, with whom she shared 39 years of marriage. Their life together was built on companionship, devotion, and mutual respect, and Joe remained an important part of her story long after his passing in 2015.

Jenny was a thoughtful, and loving woman, with a sense of humor and was always so kind. She was most passionate and proud of her yard, it brought her great joy to share it with others and would say "When you see my garden, you see my love. "Her hard work and attention to detail earned her multiple awards over the years, including recognition in the Courier and Press as a winner in the annual Home and Business Landscape Awards contest and "Jewel of the Neighborhood" Award. She also enjoyed making beautiful flower arrangements for family and friends, and she had a special affection for animals, but a soft spot for dogs, especially Zeus who was always by her side.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph M. Floyd, parents, Rev. Jesse Hall and Chloe Wilkinson Hall, her sister, Mary Doris Hall Rasmussen. She was also preceded by her niece, Marcheta McDowell Rasmussen. Jenny is survived by her Great-niece, Sara Nafei of Oakland City, Indiana, and stepson, Donald H. Floyd of Evansville, Indiana. She is also remembered with gratitude and affection by Drew Cavins, a close friend and caregiver who lovingly cared for Jenny over the past 10 years, just as Joe had asked him to do before his passing.

Jenny will be remembered for her warm spirit, her steadfast character, and the many ways she made life more beautiful for those around her.

Services will be Tuesday May 12th at 11am at the Butterfly Gaden at Sunset Cemetery.
