Barbara A. Halstead

Barbara Ann Halstead of Independence Missouri passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Friday 04/24/2026. She was blessed to be surrounded daily by her daughter Charline, son-in-law John, granddaughter Savannah, grandsons Jackson, Josh and Isaiah and her great grandkids Dennis and Grayson who took on the role of her caregivers so she could remain at home.

Barbara chose a career as a CNA/Home Health Care Aide. She was a caring and compassionate person who loved helping others. A friendly and outgoing person who never met a stranger and would offer help to anyone in need. Barbara was an amazing person who lived a remarkable life.

Barbara was an excellent baker and loved to sew. Everyone will miss her famous BBQ sauce. She spent countless hours out in her garden and enjoyed canning. She loved planting and growing beautiful flowers.

She is survived by her three children Ron Hickey of Lee's Summit MO, James Hickey of Independence MO and Charline Whitmer of Independence MO and their spouses, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandkids. Her family was her prized possession. She leaves behind family in Arkansas that she always loved to visit. She loved nothing more than spending time with them. She also leaves behind her fur baby Elsa.

Barbara was a person of faith who has now been reunited with the love of her life (husband Dennis D Halstead), her sisters and other family members in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Barbara will be interred with Dennis at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.

Rest in peace dear soul. Your memory will forever be a blessing.
