The family of Wayne Tennison of Mission, TX announces his passing, and invites all who knew him to remember him here.

What follows is written with love, by those who knew him best.

Wayne spent his working life as ['civil engineer'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Behind the medals and ribbons was a person — and that person mattered most.

Clifford Wayne "Wayne" Tennison, 84, of Mission, passed away on April 25, 2026.

Wayne was born December 25, 1941, in Troup, Texas to Boyd and Ima Tennison. He graduated from New Summerfield High School and the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in civil engineering. He proudly served in the United States Army before beginning a long career as a civil engineer.

For more than 40 years Wayne worked for various gas companies including Lone Star Gas / Atmos Energy and Mexicana de Gas in Monterrey, N.L., where he advanced to a managerial role. In retirement he continued his passion for engineering by founding and operating Tennison Engineering LLC in Mission. His work helped power communities across Texas and left a lasting mark on the state's energy infrastructure.

A lifelong Christian, Wayne was active in his church and served on several mission trips. He also devoted many hours to community projects in the Rio Grande Valley, quietly Helping those around him.

He was preceded in death by his son Anthony "Scott" (Lanita) Tennison; brother Boyce Ed; parents; and sister Carolyn Maupin. Wayne is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sylvia Lynn (Davis) Tennison of Mission; sons Steven Wayne Tennison and wife Georgina of New Braunfels, and David Tennison of Mission; grandchildren Amanda Parker and Husband Nathan, Melanie Tennison, Justin Tennison, Isabella Tennison, Rebecca Tennison, David Tennison, and Daniel Tennison; great-grandchildren Keigan and Aiden Barron, Ally, Isabel and Adalynn Parker, Jersey, Hudsyn, and Jacobi Tennison; brother George Tennison of New Summerfield; brother-in-laws Johnny Davis and wife Paula, Jimmy Davis and wife Scherri, Carol French; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
