James Charlie "Jim" McEntire Sr. of Freeport, TX has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.

Some lives speak quietly; his is one such story.

James held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Belief, when lived, becomes a kind of inheritance.

On Monday, April 27 th, James "Jim" Charlie McEntire Sr., departed this world to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was 85 years old and was a long-time resident of Freeport TX.

Born on March 8 th, 1941, in Malakoff TX, to Claude McEntire and Della Mae Tolbert McEntire. He was the second born child, with 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Jim always had a smile on his lips, and he would start every interaction with a joke. He had a generous heart and loved nothing more than to be a blessing to all around him.

Born again, by the grace of God, as a teenager, Jim was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Freeport TX for 48 years. He spent his life in service to his Lord, teaching the Bible, maintaining church property, and generously giving to the cause of Christ. His heart's desire was to be present at every church service.

A loving husband and wonderful father, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Connie McEntire, his parents, his sisters, Margie Simmons and Sue Crowell and a brother, Claude Thomas McEntire. He is survived by four sons, James McEntire Jr. and wife Michele of Freeport TX, Jeffery McEntire and wife Christina of Bryan TX, Jason McEntire and wife Felica of Athens TX, and Jeremy McEntire and wife Theresa of Lake Jackson TX, one daughter, Carrisa Bearden and husband David of League City TX, one brother, Roddie McEntire and wife Frankie and two sisters-in-law, Pamela Knox and Cheno Murray. He also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great, great, grandchild.
