"Baby John" As your life began, on the 30th day in July, Your parents said, "Oh My!" What will we call our new Son? They said, "Let's call him "Baby John" Growing up on Pederson Street, With some of the best neighbors anyone could ever meet. As you grew up in Sunnyside, Little did you know, life would take you for a ride. From Grimes Elementary to High School at Worthing, You looked forward to what adventures life would bring. You took your vision to TSU to name a few, But your desire for cooking, continued and grew. You worked for Melange, catering for some of the wealthiest in the city, And you became known for not only perfection, but because you were witty. Your culinary skills were in high demand, So, you decided to take a stand. You felt it would be best, to go to school to become a certified chef, So, you packed up from Houston and left. Your experience on the East Coast, in Providence Rhode Island, was grand, As you learned the nuances of pots and pans. Life would bring you back to Houston, to be with your mother, Sometimes, the plans we make for ourselves, God has another. In the last days of your life, you spent more time with your nephew John III (third}, And he listened to stories of your life, as you reminisced vividly with every word. You left this life not with sadness, but with happiness, Knowing that your belief in God, would give you rest. We know you are smiling down at us from heaven above, And we are standing here today, looking upward, to honor your life with nothing but LOVE!
