Marcelyn "Marcie" Jaynes of Jonesboro, AR has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved her.
A life remembered begins, simply, with the telling.
Marcelyn held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
Belief, when lived, becomes a kind of inheritance.
Marcelyn "Marcie" Jaynes of Trumann departed this life Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House of Jonesboro, AR at the age of 95 years, 6 months, and 28 days. She was born Thursday, September 25,1930 in McCormick, AR to the late F.O. and Mary Stotts Pagan. She married Zell Jaynes on June 30, 1949. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church in Trumann for over 60 years. She enjoyed taking walks, flowers, bird watching and spending time with family. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Fred Jaynes; one brother and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Soward of Trumann; two sons, Dennis (Regina) and John Jaynes both of Jonesboro; two brothers, Jiles (Gloria) Pagan of Searcy, AR, Lloyd (Barbara) Pagan of North Augusta, SC; two daughters-in-law, Bonnie Jaynes, and Tammy Jaynes; four grandchildren, John P. Soward, Zachary (Jennifer) Jaynes, Colton (Brianna) Jaynes, Darbi (Tyler) Gahr; six great-grandchildren, Haley (Santiago) Noll, Preston Jaynes, Peyton Jaynes, Gemma Foster, Levi Jaynes and Rhett Gahr, and three great-great-grandchildren, Gabe , Joseph, and Sophia Sifuentes. The family will receive friends Monday, April 27th from 12:30 until 1:30 at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. A Celebration of Life will follow with Rev. Will Harold and Rev. Kenny Guy McMahan officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, AR under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers are: Bart Benson, Bobby Benson, Chayton Carter, Eric Carter, LaRoy McCann, and James Pagan. Honorary pallbearers are: Gaylon Bridges, all grandsons and granddaughters. The family would like to thank the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House as well as St. Bernards in home hospice, specifically nurses Tosha Crews and Edna Moore. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House of Jonesboro or East Side Baptist Church, 513 E. Speedway, Trumann, AR 72472.
