What Matthew loved
Faith

Matthew Kaden Wood of Maryville, TN, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.

Here is the shape of a life remembered with love.

Matthew held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

What is held in faith is rarely lost.

Safe in the loving arms of Jesus, Matthew entered into his eternal home on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the age of 21. While the unexpected end to his journey here leaves us with heavy hearts and an emptiness that only God's grace can fill, we find comfort in Christ's promise of eternal life with Him; filled with pure and perfect peace and an abundance of divine joy, in which we will one day share with Matthew when reunited in Heaven. Matthew was a young man who had an impressive strength of character balanced by a genuine, sweet-spirit. He was a young man with great integrity, strength in temperance, and multi-faceted intelligence. He was known for his compassion and generosity toward others, loyal friendships, and unwavering, devoted love to his family, friends, pets, and most importantly-God. Matthew leaves behind his parents, Shawn & Stacy Wood; sister (as well as best friend) Kayla Wood (Caleb Everhart); Grandparents: Dave & Vicky Bayless; Grandfather, David Adams; Grandmother, Sondra Wood; Great-Grandmother, Virginia Adams "Mamaw Jane"; Uncle, Jason Adams (Traci Martin and Emily Adams "Lil Tot"); Aunt, April Colyer; as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and both Piney Level and Pleasant View Baptist Church families.
