Funeral Services will be held 7:00 P.M. Monday April 27, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home 1102 Big Springs Road Maryville, TN 37801. The family and friends will meet at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday April 28, 2026, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for Burial services. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Michael L. Ownby, age 64, passed away April 23rd, 2026, at his home in Walland. Michael was born June 12th, 1961, to Pinky L. Ownby and Wilma J. Ownby in Maryville, Tennessee. He was the youngest of 5 children. He was a gentle man - a big kid at heart. He was the reason for so many laughs and smiles for so many people. He enjoyed playing drums and drawing, and he devoted his life to loving and caring for those he was closest to. He was a part time firefighter for the State of Tennessee for over 20 years along with his father, Pinky, and his brother, Rex. He is preceded in death by his father, Pinky L. Ownby; mother, Wilma J. Ownby; sister, Carolyn Denny; sister, Diane Cooper, and sister, Brenda Ownby. He is survived by his brother, Rex Ownby and his wife, Frances Ownby; Nieces and nephews; Jeff, Tim, Tammy, Wendy, Andrea, Kevin and Amelia; Great nieces and nephews, Casey, Nora, Traci, Megan, Kaylee, Tyler and Casper.
