Milton Trosper of Casper, WY, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.

Milton Lyle Trosper, Sr. March 19, 1948 – April 30, 2026
Milton Lyle Trosper, Sr., 78, of the Wind River Indian Reservation, passed away on April 30, 2026, in Casper, Wyoming. He was born on March 19, 1948, in Fort Washakie, Wyoming, to James Trosper, Sr. and Bridget Friday Trosper.
Milton was an enrolled member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe and was of the Episcopal faith. He was also deeply involved in traditional Arapaho ceremonies throughout his life.
On December 13, 2002, he married Patricia Oldman Trosper in Las Vegas, Nevada. They shared 23 years of marriage together.
Milton dedicated his life to serving his community. He worked as the Director of the Northern Arapaho Tribe Senior Program and was one of the founders of the Wind River Indian Athletic Association. A lifelong athlete, Milton had a deep passion for basketball. He played on the first Central Wyoming College basketball team, known as the Shamans, and later coached youth teams. He also served as a referee for the Wyoming High School Activities Association.
While playing for the Wind River Indians, Milton and his teammates traveled throughout Indian Country, earning a strong reputation for their competitive spirit and success on the court.
In addition to basketball, Milton was a talented team roper and participated in the Rocky Mountain Indian Rodeo Association. He was also a rancher and cowboy and was active in the Arapaho Cattlemen Association. He enjoyed hunting big game, often on horseback.
Milton attended St. Michael's Indian Mission and schools in the Mill Creek area. He graduated from Lander Valley High School and Central Wyoming College, where he earned an Associate's Degree in General Studies. During his life, he lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Los Angeles, California, but spent the majority of his life in the Mill Creek area.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Oldman Trosper; his sons, Milton Trosper, Jr., Trevor Trosper, Dean Good Iron, and Keven Goggles; and his daughter, Ricarda "Ricki" Trosper. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Trosper, Sr. and Bridget Friday Trosper; his maternal grandparents, Harry and Elizabeth Friday; and his paternal grandparents, Allison Trosper and Maggie Richard Friday. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Merton Trosper, Bryan Trosper, Willie Trosper, Kenneth Trosper, Frank Armajo, Don Gambler, Bob Brown, Keith Goggles, Curt LeClaire, and John Smith; and his sister, Harriet Trosper.
Milton was also preceded in death by his sons, Brodi Potter, Beau Whiteman, and Francis Goggles; his grandsons, Krey Returns to War and Milton Trosper III; and his granddaughter, Shacyria Edmo, and baby Henry.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 4, 2026, at Blue Sky Hall in Ethete. An all-night wake will follow at 142 Trosper Lane.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Blue Sky Hall in Ethete. Interment will follow at Friday Cemetery in Ethete.
