It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of MAJOR LEE BROWN of Casper, WY — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

Below, the simplest tribute: the truth of a life as it was lived.

The hands that raised children leave fingerprints on the future.

A funeral service will be held for Major Lee Brown, 78, and Desanka "Sara" Brown, 70, on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery, 80 Veterans Road, Evansville, Wyoming with military honors accorded by the Natrona County United Veterans Council and the United States Marine Corps Military Funeral Honors.

Desanka Bown died on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at her home near Douglas, Wyoming and Major Brown died Friday, May 1, 2026 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming.

Major was born Wednesday, May 21, 1947 in Torrance, California the son of Gerald Patrick and Frances Marian (Richardson) Brown. He was raised and educated in Hemet, California area. He entered the United States Marine Corps in June, 1964 and was discharged in June, 1974 with a rank of Staff Sergeant. He served three tours of Vietnam and received the Purple Heart. He married Desanka Vujocich on August 7, 1970 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. They moved to Wyoming in 1974 to the Douglas – Manville area where he worked in the oilfields and railroad. He served as a Converse County Commissioner from 2006 – 2014. He also owned and operated The Pack Rat Rack in Douglas.

Major enjoyed hunting, shooting, and rock hunting.

He is survived by his two sons, Glenn (Tammy) Brown of Ankeny, Iowa and their children, Ciara and Logan and Hugh (Linda) Brown of Cheyenne, Wyoming and their children, Dalton and Riley; siblings, Marian Brown-Smith of California, Michael Brown of Arizona, and Martin Brown of California; great granddaughter, Aleina Lee Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Major was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Laramie Peak Humane Society, P.O. Box 463, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
