Remembering Lisa Joie Bradshaw Ashley

Born in Montclair, New Jersey, on August 6, 1970, Lisa Joie Bradshaw Ashley was a resilient woman driven by a genuine love for her family. Lisa was a devoted wife, loving mother, and the heart of her family. She was the youngest of two children (Alison Bradshaw) born to Muriel and James Bradshaw. Lisa and her beloved sister were raised primarily in Montclair, New Jersey, in a very loving and supportive environment. Their home was a place of joyful connection and served as a hub for celebrations and large family dinners.

Lisa attended Hillside Elementary School, Glenfield Middle School, and Montclair High School, where she excelled academically at all levels. Growing up, she had a passion for track and field, the violin, her cherished Yankees, and artists across music genres, especially her all-time favorite, Stevie Wonder.

Lisa was a dedicated student and lifelong learner. She graduated with honors from Johnson & Wales University with a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management and two associate's degrees in Marketing and Hotel & Restaurant Management. Later in life, she earned a Georgia Educator Certificate from Mercer University and a Certificate of Paralegal Studies from Atlanta Technical College. Throughout her professional career, she shined in various roles, consistently taking the initiative to build meaningful relationships and perfect her craft. Friends and colleagues admired her courage to step outside convention and create a professional experience uniquely her own.

In July of 1988, Lisa's love story began with Stanley Edward Ashley, and on the evening of July 4, 1997, they wed. Following their picturesque summer wedding, the couple began building their life together in the state of Georgia. Their hearts grew as their family expanded with the birth of their two beautiful children: Xavier, born on April 16, 1999, and Tyler, born on July 18, 2000. Together, with balanced collaboration and unwavering devotion, Lisa and Stanley cultivated an authentically loving, close-knit family.

The strength of her marriage, the closeness of her family, and the influence of her personality are highlights of Lisa's legacy. Generously sharing her heart and spirit, she served as a steady presence and source of inspiration to her husband and children, offering helpful advice, a listening ear, or the perfect song to meet the needs of any moment. Lisa found her greatest joys in spoiling her family, preparing holiday feasts, and honoring big and small victories with meaningful celebrations. Her timeless beauty, strength, sense of humor, discipline, patience, laughter, and wisdom will live on through those touched by her light.

A beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, niece, and cousin, Lisa is survived by her husband (Stanley), children (Xavier and Tyler), mother (Muriel), sister (Alison), aunt (Gwen), cousins (Robert, Victoria, Hilary, and Christopher), along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply. She was predeceased in death by her Grandfather (Robert), Grandmother (Clementia), Uncle (Robert), and Aunt (Beverly).
