Dennis Lynn Jones, age 71 passed away peacefully on the afternoon of April 30, 2026 in Overland Park, Kansas. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton, Missouri. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Born on October 9, 1954, to K.E. "Pete" and Wilma Jones, Dennis was a man defined by his infectious laugh, a legendary appetite, and a genuine heart for helping anyone in need.
A graduate of Sherwood High School, Dennis began his family in Kansas City, Kansas, with Pamela Rimel Jones; he is survived by their two children, Amanda Jones and Blair Jones. He later settled in Southgate, Michigan, with his loving wife of over 22 years, Virginia Jones.
A natural entertainer, Dennis was known for his incredible ability to tell a story, drawing people in with his wit and warmth. He spent his final years back in Kansas City surrounded by family, continuing to work and leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was deeply loved by his family and many friends, and his presence will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; his children, Amanda and Blair; his sister, Jeanie Bohler; and his grandson, Charlie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Larry.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral home in Clinton, Missouri.
