After a life of love and quiet grace, Elizabeth "Betty" Solomon of Kansas City, MO has passed.

These few paragraphs cannot hold a life, but they may carry a memory.

Elizabeth held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Some find their compass in faith. Elizabeth was among them.

After 90 years of a long and fulfilled life, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend Elizabeth “Betty” Solomon, has gone to her place of rest. Betty passed peacefully on Saturday, May 2nd—the birthday of her cherished late husband, Frank, who we can assume was happily awaiting to embrace her in his arms (with a cocktail ready too).Betty was born on March 5, 1936, in Kansas City, KS, to the late Raymond A. Warner and Mary (Gippner) Warner. Betty was the youngest of nine children, havingtwo brothers and six sisters. She graduated from St. Mary’s College in Kansas City, MO, where she earned her Registered Nurse licensure. Betty served othersselflessly both in healthcare, and through her volunteering with Catholic Charities, Birth Right, and St. Elizabeth’s Church & School for many years. While her family brought the most joy to her life, Betty also enjoyed planting flowers, watching her beloved KC Royals, playing bridge, and dancing to Big Band music. She and her sister were part of a dancing club in Kansas City, where they both ended up finding their husbands! It was on September 14, 1957, Betty and Frank were united in marriage, and before his passing in June of 2017, they would have celebrated 60 years together. From their union, they raised six children; three boys and three girls. Frank and Betty created a loving home in the same house for nearly 60 years, where all their children’s friends, their neighbors, other close friends and family would often visit for get-togethers, bridge games, and dinner parties. Betty was famous for her incredible Christmas cookies and candies that she and her family would make every year—so much so that teachers would hope to get any of the Solomon kids in their classrooms, so they’d be able to get those special Christmas treats!Betty is reunited in heaven with her parents, her eight siblings, her husband, her son Gary W. Solomon, and her grandson Quentin A. Solomon. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her sons, Robert “Bob” Solomon (wife Gloria) and David Solomon; her daughters, Mary Beth Solomon, Jennifer Rooks (Sean Barnes), and Janet Holloway (husband Mike); eight beloved grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gloria Solomon, SCL, of Leavenworth, KS, as well as many other dear friends and extended family. All services for Betty will be held on Friday, May 22nd at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2 E. 75th Street, Kansas City, MO. The Visitation will begin at 10am, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Inurnment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in honor of Betty. The service will be livestreamed. Please check back for the livestream link closer to service time. The family is deeply grateful to the caregivers at Bishop Spencer Place and Enhabit Hospice for the kindness, dignity and comfort they provided Betty during the final 14 months of her life.
