It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Alaina Jade "Lainey Bug" Dunn of Evansville, IN — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
The following words honor a life that mattered to many.
Family is the thread that runs through every story.
Alaina Jade Marie "Lainey Bug" Dunn
On August 6, 2025 Alaina was born in Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent in Indianapolis, Indiana where she spent two weeks in the NICU. After the very long intense stay Alaina was able to come home to Evansville, Indiana to be with her family and friends. Within the past eight months everyone got to know Alaina as Lainey Bug. Lainey Bug was a bundle of joy and had a huge personality. Alaina enjoyed her days fishing with her daddy and brother, while always singing "i love you"~ (Barney) with her mommy. Bug was a foodie at heart and was most the happiest eating strawberry's and mashed potatoes. She always tried stealing plates of food. Lainey Bug loved being silly by sticking her tongue out to blow bubbles and laugh hysterically when her older brother Kaysen would get into trouble (They had an amazing bond) . She had big blue eyes that sparked brighter than any star and the most beautiful strawberry blonde hair when the light would hit her beautiful face. Even though Lainey Bug only got to spend a short eight months with us, her love, joy, smile and her impact will be felt for this lifetime and the next.
Lainey Bug is survived by her parents; brother, Kaysen Tyler Jo Dunn; grandparents, Toni Kempf and Frankie Kempf Jr., Lisa Clayton (Shannon) and James Dunn (Krystal); aunts, Alexis Kempf, Adreyan Kempf; uncles, Daemon Gossar (Jerica), Gary Bullington (Mariah), Dakota Clayton, Jordan Dunn (Tiffany) and Wyatt Dunn; and by many cousins.
Alaina was preceded in death by her aunt, Amy Lynn Kempf. Her great-grandma Leola Duff and her great-aunt Jamie Bridgers (Dunn).
