It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Carlos Alberto Licea Jr. of San Antonio, TX — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

These pages are a small offering toward a much larger life.

What remains is what was loved.

Carlos Alberto Herrera Licea Jr., age 20, of Texas, passed away on April 26, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on October 21, 2005, in Dallas, Texas, to Carlos Alberto Herrera and Mari Carmen Herrera.

Carlos was the youngest of three children and the only son, a role that made him especially cherished. He was deeply loved by his parents, and he loved them just as fiercely in return. That bond was evident in everything he did, in every laugh he shared, and in the way he carried himself with respect, warmth, and heart.

He is survived by his parents; his sisters, Karla Herrera and Ashley Licea; his brother in law, Christian Levrie; his godparents, Juan Herrera and Yadira Meraz; his grandparents, Antonio Herrera Ramos, Irene Reyna Espinoza, Juventino Licea, and Aurelia Bustos; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and extended family who will hold his memory close forever. He is reunited in heaven with his baby brother, Joshua Herrera Licea, who passed in utero.

Carlos had a spirit that was impossible to ignore. He was a true jokester, always ready with a smile, a laugh, or a playful comment that could light up even the heaviest of days. His personality was vibrant and full of life, the kind that drew people in and made them feel like they belonged. He was incredibly generous, never hesitating to give, to help, or to show up for others. He carried himself with a deep respect for those around him, and his intelligence and thoughtful nature made him someone people looked up to.

He was, through and through, a country boy at heart. He loved the simple, meaningful things in life-being outdoors, casting a line into the water, and spending time fishing, especially in Florida, a place that brought him peace and happiness. He loved watching "Yellowstone," drawn to its themes of loyalty, strength, and family-values he lived out in his own life every day.

Carlos had big dreams and an even bigger heart. Carlos gave the ultimate gift, the gift of life, ensuring that even in his passing, his kindness and generosity would continue to live on in others.

There are no words that can truly capture the depth of this loss. Twenty years was far too short, yet in that time, Carlos created a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love. He leaves behind an emptiness that cannot be filled, but also a legacy that will never fade.

Carlos Alberto Herrera Licea Jr. will be remembered not only for the joy he brought into every room, but for the love he gave so freely, the dreams he carried, and the lives he touched. He will be missed beyond measure and loved beyond words.

Forever in our hearts.
