John Olney Schneider, known to family and friends as John, passed away on April 22, 2026, in Evansville, Indiana, at the age of 84.
He was born on February 14, 1942, in Evansville, Indiana, to Jack and Vivian Schneider. John lived a life marked by steady devotion to his family, his work, and the many people whose lives he touched along the way. He carried himself with warmth, kindness, and a genuine interest in others that made him easy to know and impossible to forget.
John spent part of his career serving as a police officer for Purdue University, where he was respected for his sense of duty and his dependable presence. He later worked in real estate for 14 years, building relationships through honesty, patience, and a natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life. In every role he held, John was known for his strong work ethic and his approachable manner.
Those who knew John will remember his sense of humor and his gift for making others feel welcome. He liked people and never knew a stranger. Whether he was sharing a story, offering a laugh, or simply taking time to listen, he had a way of putting others at ease. His friendly spirit and easy conversation left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Family was central to John's life. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Schneider, with whom he shared 50 years together and 41 years of marriage. Their long partnership was built on love, loyalty, and a lifetime of shared memories. He also leaves behind his children, James, Paul, and Debra, as well as several grandchildren who brought him great joy. John is also survived by his sister, Joannie Lowrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Vivian Schneider. Their memory remained an important part of his life, and the values they instilled in him were reflected in the way he treated others with respect and sincerity.
John's life was one of steady presence and quiet strength. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be remembered for the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the many connections he made throughout his life. His family and friends will carry forward his memory with gratitude for the time they had with him and the example he set through his kindness and good nature.
Though he is no longer with us, John's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His life was a testament to the value of hard work, faithful relationships, and a welcoming spirit. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
