Joseph A. Ice

August 10, 1954 ~ April 30, 2026

Joseph "Joe" A. Ice, 71, of Marion, passed away at 7:14 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2026, at Marion Health. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on August 10, 1954, to Francis and Frances (West) Ice. On April 4, 1975, he married the love of his life, Teresa (Ditton) Ice, and together they shared 51 wonderful years.

Joe graduated from Marion High School and worked as a carpenter for 40 years with White's Family Services, retiring in 2020. He was a member of American Legion Post 10 and Deer Creek Conservation Club. Joe was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, especially deer season every winter with his son and grandsons. He was also a devoted NASCAR fan. A highly skilled carpenter, Joe could build just about anything, from a card box for his grandson and his wife's wedding to large, beautiful homes. One of his favorite projects was crafting handmade treasure chests for each of his four grandchildren for Christmas.

Above all, Joe cherished time with his family. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and sharing everyday moments with the people he loved most. Last year, he planned their 50th wedding anniversary celebration and surprised Teresa by asking her to marry him again, something that meant even more because surprises were not something he typically planned. It was a moment his family will forever cherish. Joe was known for his kind heart, steady work ethic, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He was the person you could call for anything-whether you needed a hand or simply a friend to talk to.

Joe is survived by his wife, Teresa Ice of Marion; son, Joseph Ice II of Marion; daughter, Jennifer (Ricky) Gutierrez of McCordsville; grandchildren, Alexander (Elizabeth) Reed of Danville, Joseph Ice III of Gas City, Xander Ice of Gas City, and Alyssa Reed of Whiteland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Frances Ice; brothers, Bill Ice and John Ice; and sister, Suzanna Cramer.

The family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Needham Storey Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion.

Immediately following the visitation, a service to celebrate Joe's life will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Josh Elliott officiating.
