It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Lesley Ann Cooper of Lubbock, TX — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
What follows is not the whole story, but a thread of it.
The heart keeps better records than the calendar.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lesley Ann Cooper on May 4, 2026, at the age of 72. Born in Strood, England, Lesley lived a life rich in love and resilience, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Lesley was a devoted mother to her son, Dan Smith, and daughter, Shelley Smith, as well as a cherished mother-in-law to Audra Smith. She was a proud grandmother to Leo Smith, whose laughter and smile brought her immense joy. Above all, she demonstrated unwavering dedication to her family, exemplifying the love and strength of a nurturing matriarch.
At heart, Lesley was a community figure-a legal secretary for 31 years at Boerner, Dennis and Franklin Law Firm, where her professionalism and warm spirit endeared her to colleagues and clients alike. Her passion for life extended beyond her career; she thrived while working on home renovations and was known for her beautiful garden, often admired by friends and neighbors. Her pride in her lawn and house flowers reflected her commitment to nurturing, whether in her garden or her relationships.
Lesley's friendships were of paramount importance, and she invested time and heart into maintaining those bonds, creating a network of love and support around her. Her ability to connect with others and her genuine nature made her a beloved friend to many.
In honoring her life, a memorial service will be held in Sanders Memorial Chapel at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 11, 2026 where family and friends will gather to celebrate the remarkable woman that Lesley was.
In addition to Dan, Shelley, Audra and Leo, Lesley is survived by her mother, Terry Cooper, and sister, Jackie Cooper, who will also carry forward her spirit of love and community. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Cooper. As we say goodbye, we celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind-a legacy built on love, nurturing, and the joy of shared moments.
Lesley will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know and love her.
