It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Linda Lou Stroud of Evansville, IN — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

Below, the simplest tribute: the truth of a life as it was lived.

Linda spent her working life as ['the TJ Maxx distribution center until her retirement'] and held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

The traditions Linda loved will continue to hold those she loved.

Linda Lou Stroud, 83, of Evansville, passed away on April 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the faith that guided her life. She was born on November 26, 1942, in Crofton, Kentucky, and lived a life marked by devotion, kindness, and a deep love for those around her.

Linda was the loving wife of the late Lelon Stroud for 48 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and steadfast commitment. She was a devoted mother to four children, Kim Campbell and her husband Steve, Kathy Stroud, Kristi Norrick and her husband Bill, and Darrel Stroud and his wife Kori. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Lydia Sharber, and by all of her siblings, Jesse, Ann, and John. Though she experienced the loss of many loved ones before her, Linda carried herself with grace and strength, always holding tightly to the blessings that remained in her life. Her legacy lives on through the generations who were fortunate enough to know her love.

Linda loved being a Mamaw to Jeremy, Jamie, Joshua, Jessica, Kaitlyn, and Emma. She embraced that role with joy and pride, and her grandchildren brought her endless happiness. She was also a proud Great Mamaw to Kourtney, Amethyst, Cheyanne, Kylan, Jaxson, Remington, CoraBeth, and Reid, and she was blessed to welcome two great-great-grandchildren into the family circle. Her home and heart were always open, and her family will forever remember the warmth, encouragement, and unconditional love she gave so freely.

For many years, Linda worked at the TJ Maxx distribution center until her retirement. She was known for her strong work ethic and dependable spirit, qualities that reflected the way she lived her life each day. She took pride in doing her best and in serving others with a kind and steady heart.

Linda was a faithful Christian and attended Friendship Baptist Church in Evansville, Indiana. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she loved telling people about Jesus. She found joy in sharing her beliefs and encouraging others, and her witness was a reflection of the hope she carried within her. In her younger years, she also enjoyed going to yard sales, a pastime that brought her simple pleasure and many fond memories.

Those who knew Linda will remember her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose life was centered on family, faith, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and in the many lives she touched throughout her years.
