Robert Garvey, a devoted husband, proud veteran, and loving family man, will be remembered for the steady presence, warmth, and generosity he brought to everyone around him.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a member of the Seabees, carrying that same spirit of dedication and hard work throughout his life. Following his military service, he built a respected career as a hoisting engineer with the Local 4 Health and Welfare Union in Boston. Over the years he skillfully operated all types of heavy equipment, including concrete pumps, cranes, and locomotives earning admiration for his expertise, strong work ethic, and dedication to his craft. He later taught classes at Local 4 to generations of upcoming engineers.
Above all, Robert's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband of 53 years, cherishing every moment with his beloved wife. He was a constant supporter of his children at sporting events, graduations and throughout their careers. In addition, with his grandchildren he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on-whether at cheerleading games and competitions, school plays, or dance recitals and countless other events. His presence in the crowd was a source of comfort and pride, and his encouragement meant the world to them.
Known as an incredible handyman, there was truly nothing Robert couldn't fix. He took great pride in sharing his skills with his children and grandchildren, passing down not just knowledge, but confidence and independence.
Robert had a love for life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Singer Island, Florida and Laconia, NH, where he created many cherished memories. He had a special fondness for trains and a deep love for animals, especially his beloved dog, Max.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering support, and the love he gave so freely. His favorite words, "love you bunches and bunches," will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.
