The family of Stephen James Rufo, Jr., 36, of Lakeland, FL, is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. He was a cherished son, brother and friend. Born and raised in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, Stephen was an avid athlete, excelling in baseball, basketball, and football during his childhood. A proud graduate of Lake Gibson High School in Lakeland, Florida, class of 2008, he was a member of the Varsity baseball team. Stephen held various jobs but found his true passion in cooking, dreaming of becoming a chef. Known for his infectious humor, Stephen could make anyone laugh, a true superpower that endeared him to many. Stephen's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. A celebration of his life will be announced in the short future. He is survived by his mother: Maryann Rufo; father: Stephen James Rufo, Sr.; brothers: Joseph (Destiny) Rufo, (and their daughters: Ryleigh and Chloe) and Michael Rufo.
