Behind every name is a life, and behind every life are the people who loved it.
Grief is love with nowhere left to go.
Lois Walter McKenna, 81, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026. She was born on July 2, 1944, in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, to Stanley Walter and Ruth Walter.
Lois lived a life rooted in faith, service, and compassion. She was a devoted member of Christ Our Redeemer Anglican Church, where she faithfully attended services, participated in church activities, and shared her beautiful voice as a member of the church choir. Her love for her church community was evident in all she did.
A lifelong learner, Lois pursued her education with dedication, earning her bachelor's degree from Wayne State University. She trained as a nurse and began her career at Harper Hospital in Detroit, where she cared for others with kindness and professionalism. She later shared her knowledge and passion for healthcare by teaching at Boston College. Lois continued her work in service to others at Southern Oaks Liberty, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and those she cared for.
Outside of her professional life, Lois found joy in quilting, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her patience, creativity, and love for family and tradition.
Lois is survived by her loving husband, James McKenna; her son, Frederick McKenna; and her siblings: Elias Walter, Jean White, Alfred Walter, LeRoy Walter, Elwood Walter, Nan Spencer, Fred Walter, and Henry Walter. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Ruth Walter; and her siblings: Charles Walter, George Walter, Arthur Walter, Doris Walter, and Emma Sellars.
Lois will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the love she shared with her family, friends, and community. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will live on in all who knew her.
