Abrigail Louise Silva Calina, affectionately known as Abbie, passed away at the age of 93 on April 27, 2026, in Hilo, Hawai i, surrounded by her beloved family. She grew up in Honomu and later raised three children in Pepeekeo with her late husband, Felixberto Sales Calina. Throughout her life, Abbie was deeply involved in her community and a dedicated volunteer. She held multiple leadership roles, including past president of the Professional Secretaries International - Hilo Chapter (IAAP) and past president of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) women's rosary devotion and the IHM Filipino Women's club. Abbie also served as an Eucharistic minister for the sick and homebound. For many years, she also volunteered as a poll worker at the Pepeekeo voting location. In her kupuna years, she remained active as a member and officer of the Seniors program in her community. Memorial services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Papaikou. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by a eulogy at 9:30 a.m. and Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to remain for lunch, which will be provided immediately following the service. Abrigail is survived by her children, Ivy Mae (Craig) Sadamoto of Ainako, Helen Gail (George) Carter of Pepeekeo, and Tristan Paul (Shonnie) of Waiakea Uka. She had seven grandchildren: Chelsea (Edward) Tanaka, Brittany (David) Kodama & Amanda Ann (Nathan) Sadamoto; Kimberly Carter, Amber (Jacky) Guerrero-Carter & Trevor Jon Carter; and Rawiri Ells Calina. She also had six beloved great-grandchildren. She has two remaining siblings: Avery Silva-Tabuniar of Hilo and Rita Joyner of North Carolina, along with numerous nephews and nieces.
