What follows is not the whole story, but a thread of it.
What Carol gave her children, they will give to theirs.
Carol Lynn Cameron, 87, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026. She was born on July 5, 1938, to her loving parents, Geneva Mae (Kendall) Coen and William Leo Coen.
Carol's life was shaped by her deep devotion to family and an enthusiasm for any gathering that brought people together. She loved old movies and watched her favorites again and again, finding comfort in their familiar stories. In her younger days, she loved being outdoors camping and bow hunting-and she always enjoyed a lively card game with her sister and brother-in-law. More than anything, she treasured every moment spent with the people she loved most.
Carol is survived by her husband, Charles Cameron, with whom she shared more than four decades of partnership, laughter, and unwavering companionship; her children, Daniel Goodwin and his spouse Gina, and Jeffery Goodwin; her grandchildren Jennifer Frommer and her spouse John, Jessie Oswald and her spouse, Mitch, Christopher Goodwin and his spouse Mariah, Rachel Goodwin, Ryan Goodwin and his spouse Samantha, and Eric Goodwin; and her greatgrandchildren Mackenzie Goodwin, Zoe FrommerNoah and her spouse Charles, Kay Keightley, Addison Goodwin, Alyssa Frommer, Alaina Goodwin, Kayleen Oswald, Garrison Oswald, Brooklynn Goodwin, Adalyn Goodwin, and Lillianna Frommer. She also lived to see the birth of her great, great granddaughter, Juniper Mae Frommer-Noah, whose early debut just two weeks before her passing gave Carol the chance to know of her arrival.
She is also survived by her brother, William Leo "Billy" Coen, Jr., his wife Kathy, and their children Morgan, Sheryl, Melody, and Mary, and by her nieces and nephews, Robin Bahner, Gail Babcock, Micheal McNeel, Penny Messina, Jeanne Schmidt, and Raymond McNeel, the children of her late sister Peggy and brotherinlaw Bill.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, William (Leo) and Geneva; her sister, Peggy McNeel; and her brotherinlaw, Bill McNeel. She held a deep and enduring love for them throughout her life.
Family was the center of Carol's world. She poured her heart into her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren and was always ready with support and advice. Her presence made every gathering unmistakably hers, and she was famous for saying exactly what she thought-without filter or hesitation-leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Carol's legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured, the traditions she cherished, and the countless memories she created-including her legendary Christmas candy-in-a-jar guessing game, with her whimsical math and distinctive winning rules. She will be deeply missed and forever loved & remembered.
