With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Edward Cochran of Anniston, AL.

These pages are a small offering toward a much larger life.

Edward held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

What Edward believed shaped how he loved.

Edward E. Cochran, a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, was born on June 23, 1953, in Talladega, Alabama, to Cecil Cochran and Geneva Cameron. Edward lived a life filled with laughter and a profound commitment to those he loved.

Edward embraced his faith early in life and found a spiritual home at Greater Thankful Baptist Church in Anniston. He was educated in the Talladega County School System where he graduated from Munford High School with the class of 1971. After high school, he honorably served his country upon enlisting in the United States Army. On his return to civilian life, Edward embarked upon a rewarding 23-year career as a correctional officer and counselor at the Federal Correctional Institution in Talladega.

Known for his impeccable style and love of dressing up, Edward made a statement not just with his wardrobe but with his warm spirit and genuine kindness towards others. A true comedian at heart, he had a knack for making those around him laugh, lifting spirits with his quick wit and infectious sense of humor. He loved college football, passionately cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide through wins and losses.

On Sunday, April 26, 2026, Edward E. Cochran found rest when he answered the Master's call while in the care of Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Cochran; parents, Cecil Cochran and Geneva Cameron; and brother, David Cochran.

Edward will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Conredge (Tamila) Cochran, Christopher (Shakema) Cochran, and Cordarius (Melanie) Cooper; daughter, Halima (Tareeq) Cochran-Woods; grandchildren, Dezmond Twyman, Tyceonia Cochran, Kingdyn Cooper, Avion Cooper, Qween Cooper, Majesti Cooper, and Suede Woods; brothers, Walter (Gwen) Cochran, Jerry (Judith) Cochran, Harold (Mary) Cochran, Wayne Cochran, and Terrison Threatt; sister, Charlene (Walter) Cochran-Canady; and other family members and friends.

As we reflect on Edward's remarkable journey, we hold on to the laughter he so generously gave us, the love he shared, and the countless memories he created. Though he may have left this world, his spirit and humor will continue to radiate in our hearts forever.
