Rita Jean Lewis of Anniston, AL, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.

What follows is not the whole story, but a thread of it.

Rita held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

What is held in faith is rarely lost.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Lewis of Alexandria who was called home Sunday May 3, 2026 in the comfort of her sons home surrounded by most of her loving family. Rita was a beloved mother, sister, grand & great grand mother and Aunt.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents Rev Doug and Emmer Joyce Nunnally, her husband Doug Lewis and son Donnie Lewis, her sister Denise Lewis and her brother Terry Nunnally.

Rita is survived by her fiance Donald Stillwell, her sons Eric Nelson and Greg Davis, her brother Ricky Nunnally (wife Eli), sister Robbie Davis, grandchildren Morgan, Taylor, Makayla and Douglas. Rita also had 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Rita will be missed by all who loved her.
