With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Juanita "Janie" Ortega of Greenville, TX.

Time has its way of binding people together.

Juanita "Janie" Ortega was born on July 3, 1960, and passed away on May 3, 2026. She was a very hard worker who dedicated herself fully to every job she held. Janie’s strength and determination were evident throughout her life, especially as she was a breast cancer survivor and triumphed over cervical cancer. She truly was a fighter.Janie will be remembered for her strong, feisty, spunky, and fun personality. Above all, she was deeply loving and cared for her family and friends with all her heart. She loved to cook and bake, enjoyed dancing, and treasured spending time just hanging out with her loved ones. A woman of great faith, she loved Jesus Christ and always prayed for the salvation of all her family.As a child, many fond memories include doing lots of crafts and trying out a variety of recipes together. These moments highlight the joyful and creative spirit Janie shared with those around her.She was a great mom and her proudest accomplishment was her family. She is survived by her husband, Arcadio Ortega; daughter, Angela Nunez, and son-in-law, Alfonso Nunez; son, Esteven Ortega; and grandchild, Faith. Janie was also a beloved sister to Zulema Contreras, Jaime Tejada, Dalia Hernandez, Diana Tejada, and Elvia Reyes. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who all cherished her deeply.Janie was preceded in death by her father, Bonifacio Tejada; mother, Anita Tejada; and sister, Norma Olivares.Juanita "Janie" Ortega’s memory will live on through her family, her faith, and the many lives she touched with her kindness, strength, and love. She will be missed but never forgotten.
