With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Mildred Lee O'Neal of Wendell, NC.

Some stories deserve to be told slowly. This is one of them.

What is taught through a parent's example outlasts what is taught through their words.

ZEBULON – Mildred Lee Horton O'Neal lived a full and prosperous life, and now after 93 years, she can finally rest. She was born in Wake Co. to the late Paul Royster & Kiva Lee Horton. Mildred enjoyed playing cards, dancing, and even more so, spending time with her family. She built a legacy of love, hope and of charity for those she loved to carry on. Along with her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Worth Bagley O'Neal; her son, Gary O'Neal; her grandson, Jason Garrett O'Neal and her sister, Hilda Horton.

Funeral service will begin at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens located at 809 W. Gannon Ave of Zebulon, NC. Entombment to follow at the conclusion of service.

Mildred is survived by her children, Richard Alvin O'Neal (Donna), Wayne Allen O'Neal (Karen), Donna Newsome (Greg); 5 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren, Tifney Bunn (Marcus), Wayne O'Neal, Jr. (Tina), Jennifer O'Neal, Fallon Bunn, Justin Bunn (Jennifer), Mackenzie Newsome and Travis Newsome; her daughter-in-law, Teresa O'Neal, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to your charity of choice.

Mildred had been a resident of The Landings at Lake Gaston. The family would like to extend a special thank you to The Landings staff and Hospice for such special care to their loving mother.
