Ramon D. Ocañas, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, at the age of 83.
He was born on March 9, 1943, to Ramon Ocañas Sr. and Maria de la Cerda de Ocañas. Ramon lived a life rooted in love, strength, and dedication to his family. He will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.
Ramon is survived by his loving wife, Consuelo L. Ocañas, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage; his children, Pauline Pizana and spouse Francisco Pizana, Melissa Ann Ramos and spouse Daniel V. Ramos, and Ramon Ocañas III and wife Ashlee Lizette Ocañas; his cherished grandchildren, Samantha Alyssa Mata, Carissa Elena Pizana, Francisco Pizana Jr., Isaac Daniel Ramos, Sara Ann Ramos, Anastasia Ocañas, and Ramon Ocañas IV; and his loving siblings, Hortensia Garza, Raquel Garza, and Roberto Ocañas.
He was preceded in death by his siblings † Rodolfo Ocañas, † Guadalupe "Lupe" Trevino, † Olga Cano, † Ricardo Ocañas, and † Raul Ocañas.
Visitation will begin on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Mercedes, Texas. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, departing the funeral home at 12:30 PM for a 1:00 PM Celebration of Life at International Ministries with Pastor Eduardo Ponce officiating in Mercedes, Texas. The burial will follow at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park Cemetery In La Feria, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Isaac D. Ramos, Daniel V. Ramos, Francisco Pizana, Francisco Pizana Jr., Elias Garcia, and Raul Ocañas Jr.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and treasured memories that will live on through all who were blessed to know him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
