Stuart Phillips of Texarkana, TX, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.

What follows is not the whole story, but a thread of it.

Stuart held deeply to the Methodist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

The community of faith holds its own well — and Stuart was held.

Dr. Claude Stuart Phillips of Texarkana, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2026. He was born on December 17 to Mary Lou Stuart Phillips and Claude Phillips, who instilled in him the values of kindness, dedication, and quiet strength that would guide him throughout his life.

Stuart devoted his career to orthodontics, where he was known not only for his skill and professionalism, but for the genuine care he showed each patient. He took pride in helping others smile with confidence, forming lasting relationships along the way.

Beyond his work, Stuart embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. He loved the calm of a golf course, the freedom of being out on the water, and the adventure of travel. Over the years, he fulfilled a remarkable goal of visiting every continent, collecting memories and stories that he loved to share with those closest to him.

Stuart will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul. He had a steady presence, a warm heart, and a way of making others feel valued and at ease. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Rebecca Autrey Phillips, of 34 years, whose partnership and love were the center of his life; daughter, Suzanne Phillips, who brought him immense pride and joy; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas, with Brother Jaimie Alexander officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to First United Methodist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas, or to the Salvation Army, honoring Stuart's spirit of generosity and faith.
