Su McKeever of Des Moines, IA has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved her.
These are the contours of a life that meant a great deal to many.
What was given remains, even when the giver is gone.
Su Kaylene McKeever of Lake City, Iowa, was born on September 18, 1956, in Newton, Iowa, to George and Pauley Ann (Haules) Britt. Known for her warm spirit and dedication, Su spent much of her life working as a magazine sorter for CDS and as a security dispatcher for Per Mar Security, retiring from CDS in 2008.
Su's personality was a blend of sincerity and strength-she was serious and sometimes stubborn, yet always knew what she wanted. Her love for dressing up brought joy to those around her, especially during holidays like Halloween, where she creatively embodied characters such as a vending machine, grapes, a unicorn, a bag of ice, and a bowl of Fruit Loops. She cherished her unique collections of monkeys and cows and generously shared her time volunteering at the Central Senior Center, where she helped serve meals.
An exceptional cook, Su delighted family and friends with her homemade ham balls, chicken and noodles, and cheesy potato soup. Above all, she treasured family moments and found great happiness in spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Su leaves behind her daughter, Paula McKeever; five grandchildren-Aaron Rupe, Brock, Carson, Kaylene McKeever, and Dominic Mathews; her sister, Lucinda Britt; her brother, Wendall Mills; her cherished grand dog, Paisley; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Su Kaylene McKeever, 69, peacefully passed away on April 25, 2026, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry "Buck" McKeever; her parents, George and Pauley Britt; and her brothers, George Jr. and Roger Britt.
Her kindness, dedication, and the warmth she shared with others leaves a lasting imprint on all who knew her. May her memory be a blessing and her spirit continue to inspire those who loved her.
