No services will be held for Charles "Charley" S. Pearson, 79, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Riverton, Wyoming. Cremation has taken place.
Charley was born on July 18, 1946, in Ithaca, New York, the son of Carl S. and Dorothy M. (Grover) Pearson. He was raised in Ithaca and went on to graduate from Ithaca College. A proud American, Charley honorably served his country in the United States Army as a medic during the Vietnam War, carrying a lifelong sense of duty, compassion, and quiet strength.
Mr. Pearson spent time living in San Diego, California; Seattle, Washington-with cherished summers spent in Kodiak Island, Alaska-and later returning to New York communities, where he married the love of his life, Karen J. Muhs in Rochester, New York on December 28, 1980. Together they built a life rooted in love, resilience, and family. The couple also lived in Ithaca and Aurora, before finally settling in Riverton, Wyoming.
Charley dedicated much of his professional life to serving others, working at Rochester Savings Bank and later at Cornell University in Ithaca as a college administrator. He was also a proud member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and participated in local historical societies, reflecting both his patriotism and his appreciation for heritage and community.
Above all, Charley was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a deeply cherished grandfather. His greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family, and he will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and unwavering love for those closest to him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen J. Pearson of Riverton, Wyoming; his son, Fredrik Charles Pearson of Riverton, Wyoming; his daughter, Carly Shannon Richter, her husband Edward, and their son Max Lander Richter, all of Portland, Oregon; and his daughter, Ella Jane Pearson of Los Angeles, California. He is also survived by his father- and mother-in-law, Barry and Ann Muhs; his brother-in-law, Scott (Carol) Muhs of Rochester, New York; and his sisters-in-law, Sandra (Tom) Hennessy of Florida, Kathleen Sikorski of New York, and Tracy (Keith) Toomey of Florida; nephew, Steve and Hannah Whalen of Maine and niece, Ann and Jeff Jones of New Mexico.
